Is socialism evil?

Collective ownership of property and pooling of risk by a community are the tenants of socialism. This isn't evil unless it is forced on an individual. 

If an individual is forced to participate and they have no say in the governance of the community, then it is authoritarianism. 

If joining is a voluntary act by the individual and they have an equal vote in the governance, then tie participation is joining a cooperative.

The poor need to work to receive an income. Won't they sit at home eating junk food on their couch if we give them an energy income?

Some wealthy people never work. Why is that okay? Kids born with a silver spoon in their mouth have a false feeling of privilege and flaunt it. They can be disgusting, evil people. Why is that okay? 

In an era of automation in which machinery only needs the energy to produce all the necessities for life, people need much less time to produce things. Your robots can do tedious, dirty, and dangerous tasks in the past that require human time and labor.  

Why Make This an Open System Project?

This project is about creating habitats with a socioeconomic system that, by design, complies with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. A stable socioeconomic system will achieve these goals by providing all members with audicray??? accommodations that provide an equitable standard of living. 

History has demonstrated that private ownership of the means of production and the space in which people live has not resulted in an equitable socioeconomic system. 

If it isn't an open system, then it is private property. Just as no one owns the oceans, no one should "own" the system that governs other people's lives. 

Habitats built from standard hardware and software technologies become monopolies if the standards are privately owned. Private ownership allows the collection of rent from other habitat members. Monopoly rents allow an accumulation of wealth that destabilizes the socioeconomic system.  Ownership in common remedies this inequity. 

 It makes no sense to privatize the standards. Operating as an open system allows anyone with an itch to make it better by forking the design, trying something new, and then sharing the improved design with others to see if the idea was successful. 

Open publication of all standards and the source code that implements those standards makes it more secure because malicious details of a design cannot be hidden if it is in the open.   Many eyes make all bugs shallow.
